Privacy Policy
What information techusama.com collects, why, how long it's kept, and the choices you have, including for ads and analytics.
Effective date: October 6, 2026
This policy explains what information techusama.com collects, why, and what choices you have. We've tried to describe only what the site actually does, in plain language.
Who we are
Tech Usama (techusama.com) is an independent publication run by its founder, Usama. In this policy, "Tech Usama", "we" and "us" refer to the site and its operator. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the contact page.
The short version
- Visitors don't have accounts. There are no comments and no newsletter.
- Tech Usama itself doesn't set cookies for visitors. Your light or dark theme choice stays in your browser.
- If you use the contact form, we store what you send so we can reply. We don't use it for marketing and we don't sell it.
- If ads or analytics are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers, as described below.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and operations.
Information we collect
When you use the contact form
When you send a message through the contact page, the site stores the following in its database:
- Your name and email address
- The topic you choose and your message
- A one-way hash of your IP address
- Your browser's user agent (a short text string describing your browser and device)
- The date and time you sent the message
We use your name, email address, topic and message only to read and reply to your message and to handle your request. The hashed IP address, user agent and timestamp help us detect spam and abuse, such as someone flooding the form. A one-way hash turns your IP address into a fixed code that can be compared with other submissions but can't be turned back into the original address.
If email notifications are turned on for the site, a copy of your message may also be delivered to the editor's mailbox so it can be answered.
Messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. We delete messages periodically, and we'll delete yours sooner if you ask.
Server logs
Like almost every website, techusama.com runs on a web server that records standard request logs. These include your IP address, your browser's user agent, the URL requested and the time of the request. The logs are kept by our hosting provider and are used for security, troubleshooting and keeping the site running. They are retained according to the hosting provider's practices.
What we don't collect
Visitors can't create accounts, post comments or sign up for a newsletter, so we don't collect account details, comment data or mailing lists. We don't take payments.
Cookies and browser storage
Your theme preference
If you switch between light and dark mode, the site remembers your choice using your browser's localStorage. This is not a cookie, and it is never sent to our server. It stays on your device, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Staff session cookie
A session cookie is set only when a member of the Tech Usama staff logs in to the site's content management system. Visitors reading the site never receive it.
Advertising and analytics cookies
If advertising or analytics are enabled, the third parties described below may set cookies or use similar identifiers in your browser. Where consent is required, a consent tool asks for your choice first, and that tool may store your choice in a cookie or in browser storage so it doesn't ask again on every page.
Fonts and embedded videos
The fonts on techusama.com are hosted on our own server. Your browser doesn't request fonts from Google Fonts or any other third party.
Some articles include YouTube videos. These use YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, youtube-nocookie.com, and nothing loads from YouTube until you click play. Before that you see a placeholder served by our site. Once you click play, the video loads from YouTube, and Google's privacy policy applies to that interaction.
Advertising
Tech Usama may display ads from Google AdSense and possibly other advertising networks. When ads are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure ad performance. This can include personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites, where the law permits it.
You can learn more and control how ads are personalized here:
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Google Ads Settings, where you can turn off personalized ads from Google
- aboutads.info, where you can opt out of personalized ads from participating companies
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a certified consent management platform where required. You can choose not to allow personalized ads. You may still see ads that aren't personalized.
If we work with advertising networks other than Google, we'll update this policy to name them.
Analytics
Tech Usama may use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which articles people read and how visitors arrive. If Google Analytics is enabled, it uses first-party cookies and collects information like the pages you view, the referring site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (derived from your IP address). Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use this information only in aggregate, to decide what to write and improve, and we don't use it to identify individual visitors.
Where consent is required, analytics runs only after you agree. You can also block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
- To reply to you: contact form details are used to answer and handle your request, because you asked us to.
- To keep the site secure: server logs and the spam-prevention data from the contact form are used because we have a legitimate interest in protecting the site and its readers.
- To show ads and measure the site: advertising and analytics, if enabled, rely on your consent where the law requires it.
- To meet legal obligations: when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Who we share information with
We don't sell the information you send through the contact form, and we don't share it with advertisers. Information may be handled by:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site, its database and server logs
- An email service, if email notifications are turned on, to deliver contact messages to the editor
- Google and its partners, when ads or analytics are enabled or when you play a YouTube video
- Authorities, if the law requires us to disclose information
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Have your information deleted
- Object to or restrict certain uses of it
- Receive a copy of it in a portable format
- Withdraw consent you've given, for example for personalized ads
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or of targeted advertising, as those terms are defined under some US state laws
- Not be treated differently for exercising these rights
Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom also have the right to complain to their local data protection authority.
To make a request about information we hold, such as a contact message you sent, use the contact page. Because visitors don't have accounts, we may ask you to confirm you control the email address you used before we act on a request. For data held by Google for ads or analytics, use the Google links above or the consent tool on this site.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. Access to stored contact messages is limited to site staff, and IP addresses from the contact form are stored only as a one-way hash. No website can guarantee perfect security, so please don't send sensitive personal information, such as passwords or financial details, through the contact form.
Children
Tech Usama is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information through the contact form, contact us and we'll delete it.
International visitors
Our hosting provider and the third-party services described above may process information in countries other than the one you live in, where data protection rules may differ.
Changes to this policy
If the site's practices change, for example if we add comments or a newsletter, we'll update this policy and the effective date at the top of the page before the change takes effect.
Contact
Questions about this policy or your information can be sent through the contact page. Choose the "General" topic and mention privacy in your message.
