Simulation games on Android cover a lot of ground. You can fly an airliner with a working cockpit, run a farm with licensed tractors, design a city, manage a game studio or just place colored blocks until a seaside town appears. The best one for you depends on whether you want realism, management or a calm sandbox, and on how the game charges, which varies more in this genre than in most.

The picks below come from official Google Play listings and developer descriptions, along with each game's reputation. We haven't flown, farmed or built with them ourselves for this article. Every game was live on Google Play in October 2026.

If you want realism: flight and vehicles

Infinite Flight Simulator

Infinite Flight is one of the best-known flight sims on mobile, largely because of its online community, where pilots fly alongside human air traffic controllers. The app is free to download with a selection of aircraft. The listing explains that an Infinite Flight Pro subscription unlocks the full fleet, flying anywhere in the world, live weather and the multiplayer side, on one-, six- or twelve-month terms. Navigation data comes from NavBlue, an Airbus company. Treat it as a subscription service with a free trial area, not a free game.

X-Plane Flight Simulator

Laminar Research's mobile X-Plane uses the same flight model as its FAA-certified desktop simulator, according to the developer. Many aircraft have fully interactive 3D cockpits with working gauges and switches. The free regions include detailed terrain and 3D airports, and a monthly or yearly subscription unlocks global scenery. In our view it suits players who care more about how the plane flies than about flying with other people.

Farming Simulator 26 Mobile

GIANTS Software's newest mobile farming sim offers more than 120 licensed machines from brands such as John Deere, CLAAS and Fendt, plus two maps, 15 crops, forestry, animals and production chains. It's paid up front, and the Google Play listing also flags ads and in-app purchases, so check the store page before you buy. Netflix members can play the older Farming Simulator 23 as a Netflix edition at no extra cost.

Truckers of Europe 3

For long, relaxing drives, this free truck sim has realistic truck physics, many chassis configurations, 25 trailers, weather and day-night cycles. It's free with ads and in-app purchases.

If you want to build: cities, parks and towns

Pocket City 2

Codebrew Games' 3D sequel combines city building with walking through your city as an avatar. You can buy a house, play minigames and set off disasters. The developer promises no microtransactions and no long wait times: you pay once and unlock everything by playing. A friend can join to build with you in real time.

TheoTown

TheoTown is a deeper, retro-styled city builder focused on scale and long-term planning. It's free with ads and in-app purchases, and the listing says outright that it can be played offline.

SimCity BuildIt

EA's free-to-play SimCity is polished, but it's built around timers and materials you either wait for or buy. Its listing also says it needs a persistent internet connection. It's fine for short daily check-ins, but it's not a pure sandbox.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic

Atari's mobile release combines the first two RollerCoaster Tycoon games. It's paid, and the Wacky Worlds and Time Twister expansions and the Toolkit are separate in-app purchases. Netflix also offers a separate RollerCoaster Tycoon Netflix edition based on the 3D Touch version.

Townscaper

Its developer calls it "more of a toy than a game." You place colored blocks on an irregular grid, and an algorithm turns them into houses, arches, stairways and bridges. There are no goals. It's a small paid app, and a pleasant one for winding down at night.

If you want to run a business or a life

Game Dev Tycoon and Game Dev Story

Both games have you running a video game studio, from a garage startup to a hit-making company. Game Dev Tycoon says plainly that it contains no in-app purchases or ads. Kairosoft's Game Dev Story is also a paid app, with the studio's familiar pixel-art management style.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete

Nintendo's replacement for the shut-down free-to-play game is a one-time purchase with no in-game purchases. It includes items and events from seven years of the original. The listing says a constant online connection isn't required, though some features use the internet occasionally.

The Sims FreePlay

With The Sims Mobile gone, FreePlay is EA's remaining Sims game on Android. You build homes, form relationships and visit friends' towns. It's free with ads and in-app purchases and needs a network connection. As with SimCity BuildIt, expect timed tasks that you can speed up with purchases.

Reading the pricing model before you commit

  • "Free" flight sims are usually subscriptions. Both Infinite Flight and X-Plane keep most of the world behind recurring plans. Try the free area first, then pick the shortest plan.
  • Timers mean pressure to pay. Free city and life sims that ask you to wait for buildings or tasks earn their money by selling speed. Pay-once games such as Pocket City 2 and Game Dev Tycoon avoid that.
  • Online-only games can disappear. The Sims Mobile and the original Pocket Camp both shut down. Games that run on your phone, like TheoTown and Pocket City 2, are better long-term homes for a save file you care about.

Before you install

Farming and flight sims are among the larger downloads in this list, so check your space with our storage cleanup guide first. Long sim sessions also use a lot of battery, and our battery life guide separates the tips that help from the myths. If you want a farm with more story, Stardew Valley appears in our offline games list. Spiritfarer, a management game wrapped in a moving story, is in our story games roundup.

Where to start

For aviation, try Infinite Flight's free tier before committing to Pro. If you want to build a city once and keep it, buy Pocket City 2, or install TheoTown for a free option that works offline. For pure relaxation, Townscaper costs little and asks nothing of you.
